Using Video to Generate Traffic

Using Video to Generate Traffic
Last year, we created a short video named “The Fluffy Green Widget”. It was about one minute long and really was not about anything in particular. It was really easy to put together, just a one minute voce overlay and some royalty free pictures we had on CDs we purchased.

The important thing was naming the video “Fluffy Green Widget” and submitting it to all the major video sites like YouTube.com, Kewego.com, Livevideo.com and about 15 others.

In addition we submitted a short post to several established blogs that included the YouTube video and several other sites social networking sites.

All in all, there were about 25-30 submissions. Each one had a link to the page with “Fluffy Green Widget” in it on our main domain, or the actual URL of this page in the link text.

The benefit of doing this was if you search for “fluffy green widget” in Google you will find our targeted page along with several pages hosting our video.

Your results can vary…
Some internet gurus look for what they call “low hanging fruit”. You know, the key words that get some traffic, but don’t have a lot of competition.

The Point of this experiment…
As you know, the search term “fluffy green widget” is not a highly targeted search term. This is why we picked it. Just to make the point that the process works. The main point is this sort of targeting will work for any key word. The important thing is to choose a key word that does get search volume, but does not have too much competition.

You can easily find a key work like this just by going to Google and searching for your targeted key words. Right above the search results, Google will tell you how many pages are targeting your key word next to the “Results”. In our case it looks like this:

Results 1 – 10 of about 66,200 for fluffy green widget.
66,000 competing pages may sound like a lot, but in the scheme of things it is not. In fact, if your key word has results in Google of less than 250,000, then it is a good key word to target. Try several variations of your key words along with other qualifying words to find one with results under 250k.

Finding the right qualifiers…
In our case “fluffy” is a qualifier. In a real case scenario, let’s say you are selling an exercise video. If you search Google for that phrase you get about 65 million competing pages. It would take quite a long time to rank on the first page of Google for that term.

On the other hand, competing pages for “step aerobics dvds” is just over 100,000 pages. This is a much easier target to get listed on the first page of Google.

To help you find these great key words, search Google, click on the “Other Options” link at the top left of the page, then click on the “Wonder Wheel” link. This is a great tool.

Here is the actual video we posted:

This is not hard, you can do this…

Find your targeted key word in Google, and then on your web site, create a page with that key word in name of the page. The title tag on this page should also be your key word, then submit this page through our service… and watch the targeted traffic come your way.

Traffic is the lifeblood of any internet site, without traffic the site may as well not exist. When it comes to CPA offers, since the majority of the offers are for US citizens, we need to change that statement and say that without US traffic, your site may as well not exist. Even if you already have thousands of visitors, you arenot making any money unless a massive proportion of that's from the US.

Now there are 3 main tactics to push traffic to your internetsite ; organic search site traffic, paid traffic and visitors from your e-mail list.

Search site Traffic

Many mavens call this 'free' traffic, but unless you place nil value on your time, this is not the case in any way. If you outsource the S.E.O work then it's definitely not free traffic. Similarly, once your internet site is ranked highly, you need to continue with the S.E.O work to maintain the position.

With that said, organic S.E.O remains one of the most inexpensive strategies to driving traffic to your business and should make up a serious part of your long-term plans for your CPA websites. If your budget is tight, then organic S.E.O could be the only option available to you, in which case you will need to invest lots of time to drive traffic from the search sites.

Paid Traffic

Paid traffic can come in numerous different forms and you've a enormous variety of places to go to get it. At the forefront of most web marketers mind is AdWords, which is good for you because they regularly donot think about other networks.

Yahoo and MSN / Bing, for instance both have millions of searches each day but the price tag per visitor is significantly less than on Google. Not just that, but Yahoo and MSN / Bing are alleged to have afar higher proportion of consumer searches compared to Google, which is predominantly research based.

You also have alternatives like Facebook and MySpace advertising. The amazing thing about these networks is that you can focus on particular demographics ranging from gender, age, location and even interests! You have probably seen advertisements on Facebook that are uncannily accurate like Free USB drive for all 34 year olds, do not be fooled, theyare just using Facebook's demographic targeting, but many people will not know this and think an offer is coincidently tailored for them.
